Fennella is the 2022 Business Woman of the Year presented by the Women Empowerment Awards.

Her community work includes Chair of the Foundation Board of Women in Film and Television- Toronto, Board of Directors of the Canadian Academy, former Vice-President of the Board of Dr. Roz's Healing Place, Member of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Past Board Member of Tropicana Community Services, Past President of the Canadian Association of Black Journalists, and former member of the Sheridan College Advisory Board for Journalism.

In 2020 , Fennella was a recipient of the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women Award.

She has served as a juror for the Canadian Screen Awards, The Junos and the New York Film Festivals International TV Awards. Fennella taught Media Literacy for six years at Centennial College and has mentored numerous journalism students.

Fennella is the recipient of the 2024 ReelWorld Visionary Award, 2024 University of Toronto Scarborough Inclusive Excellence Alumni Award and the IABC-Toronto Rogers Communicator of the Year award for 2023. She has been recognized for demonstrating leadership and communications excellence through her ongoing work boosting the voices of Black professionals in the media.
