Single Mom/Super Mom
Often times being a single mother is not a preferred choice in raising children. Life happens and you figure it out. Add in a career – whether you’re self-employed or at a company -- and that work, life, balance that “they” speak of is out the door. You do what you have to do and many times you don’t realize you have an audience to your greatest achievement – raising children.
Tracy Moore, host of CityLine, and I met about 11 years ago at the now defunct Toronto 1. We became fast friends and she and her husband Lionel (Lio) Perron helped me out with childcare for my two kids more times than I can count. So, I was surprised when she sent me a card inspired by ME for Mother’s Day. ANoteToHer.com asked Tracy what inspires her and she said single moms. She chose me as someone who she emulates her own parenting model after in raising her two children. They created the card and put my name on the back. As a single mom, you do what you have to, you sacrifice, you struggle, you rise, you fall, you get back up again.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, but a special tip of the hat to the ones doing it alone. Yes, Single Moms are Super Moms, but I know your path, when your feet get a little tired, remember to give yourself a break. It’s okay.
