Refreshed & Ready for 2022
I started a new practice last year of taking the last two months of the year to dial things down, check what’s working and what’s not and to find inspiration to move forward. It really sets you up to go into the new year with peace of mind, reflection and a plan of action. I feel re-energized and excited about the work I am doing. I’m motivated to find ways to do things better, tweak stuff that hasn’t quite landed how I had hoped, and to try new initiatives that broaden my learning experience.
I am a lifelong learner. I think it’s the DNA of a journalist. Always wanting to know more, ask questions, try new things. This new adventure of entrepreneurship has taught me so much in four short years. I think the most important thing it has taught me is to believe in myself. This is not to say I didn’t in the past. But it came in spurts and a lot of times my confidence was knocked down because I believed what others were thinking or saying, and not what I knew to be true.
I have big plans for 2022 and all of them may not be successful or get completed in 365 days - but I will start them. What I won’t do is let fear of failure stop me. Instead, I will take anything that doesn’t work out as a learning opportunity. A chance to build a better mousetrap. It’s all about attitude. If you can approach life with a can-do attitude, you will be surprised at the results.
Personally, I’m not big on new year’s resolutions. Everyday I resolve to be a better person. I also think you can set yourself up for failure by putting pressure on yourself to achieve a list of goals without first laying down the habit-forming foundation. You can’t go from doing no exercise to being in the gym 5 days a week at the crack of dawn - especially if you’re not a morning person! We have to remember not to be so hard on ourselves, small wins are just as good (and motivating) as big ones.
2022 is going to be epic for me. I have decided that and have set my intention to make it happen.
Just watch me!
