April Fools - Having Fun With Social Media & Manifestation
I decided to have a little fun this year on April 1st. I don’t typically play practical jokes on April Fools’ Day, but in talking over my April calendar with my social media manager Denee, we thought it would be good to inject some humour into my Instagram.
Denee is awesome! She re-created a cover of Forbes Magazine with me on it along with a few fake headlines. The copy read: What an honour!!!!! 🙌🏾 I have been waiting to share this! It’s been hard to keep this in... earlier this year Forbes magazine reached out to me to be featured in their April special issue. 👐🏾
This is such a milestone for my business. I was in shock and so excited to be featured on the cover and included on their list as one of the most influential women and impactful movers and shakers. Oh yeah... April Fools! Did I get you 😂😜
Well, I got quite a few people with this post, especially those who didn’t read the copy. They put their congrats in the comments and I made sure to clarify right away that it was an April Fools’ joke. Everyone took it with great humour, but then the responses back started to have a theme. “You are manifesting this”, “We will agree and pray for manifestation of this”, “I like this as a manifestation exercise”, “I have never been so happy to be a fool. This needs to manifest in someway. Looking forward to when a joke becomes serious. You deserve something like this to become real life. Speaking it into existence 🙌🏾”
It got me thinking, really thinking. What started off as a joke, could actually become reality. Judging from the responses, so many people believed it, and believed I could and would be on the cover of Forbes. Hey, why not?
One other response got my attention: “You always have the most amazing posts! 😄” Since I started working with Denee, my social media game has been taken up a notch. My followers are growing organically and my engagement is high. There are a few reasons for this and we’re putting together a workshop later this spring to share some tips on creating social media posts, branding and effective messaging. Look out for that Livestream promo on my site and, of course, social media. And this isn’t an April Fools’ joke 😜
