Stay Safe & Have Fun: Alternative Halloween Ideas

Lee-Anne Lyon-Bartley AKA “Canada’s Safety Diva” has the tricks to staying protected from COVID-19 so Halloween is still a treat for the kids

For Immediate Release

(Toronto, ON) – This is not the year to go door to door for Halloween trick or treating due to the second wave spiking COVID-19 numbers in parts of the country. With that in mind, Food, Health and Safety Expert Lee-Anne Lyon-Bartley has alternative ideas that keep COVID-19 guidelines in mind yet allows children to have fun. “I have a young son, so I get it. Parents don’t want to be the Grinch that stole Halloween,” says Lyon-Bartley, who has 20 years of experience in the health and safety field. “It doesn’t have to be canceled; we just have to rethink how we do it.”

Here are some of Canada’s Safety Diva’s COVID-19 Halloween Alternatives:

  • Pre-package Halloween Loot Bags for your child’s class so they all get to take home treats without putting their hands in a communal bowl

  • Take a page from Easter and have a Halloween Candy Hunt around your home and backyard

  • Go over the top with the Halloween décor this year and encourage your neighbours to do the same so your street is extra spooky – have a friendly competition to get everyone in the spirit

  • Have a Zoom ‘Boo’ Party to celebrate Quaran-teen with guests dressing up, showing off their pumpkin carving creations and have a scary movie watch party together!

  • Set up a couple of Halloween piñatas in your home or yard and make them work for that candy! Check Amazon or Bulk Barn for your child’s favourite character and fill it with treats they love.

Lee-Anne is available for interviews and can elaborate on all of the above points via Skype or FaceTime.
