Celebrate 15! CaribbeanTales International Film Festival Reveals 2020 Program Line-Up

Nine Nights of 25+ Short and Feature Films Live Streamed on CaribbeanTales-TV

July 8th, 2020 (Toronto,ON) – CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF) announced its stellar line-up of films Wednesday night to mark the 15th anniversary of celebrating established and emerging filmmakers of Caribbean heritage. “We want to acknowledge this milestone occasion with the best of the best,” said Festival Director Diana Webley. “With the shift in focus happening in the world right now, we want to make sure Caribbean filmmakers are given the spotlight and an elevated platform to showcase their talents and stories.”

 

CTFF runs from September 9th to October 2nd and will take place on the Video-On-Demand CaribbeanTales-TV (CT-TV) platform with nine nights and 25+ short and feature films of livestream entertainment. CT-TV is an innovative subscription-based digital streaming platform that provides access to African & Caribbean-heritage films and TV programs to schools, educational institutions, and audiences worldwide.

 

Opening Night’s theme of “The Trini In Me” kicks off CTFF on September 9th with a focus on Trinidadian filmmakers and the International Premiere of Grace & Saleem directed by Jian Hennings. The unconventional love story of a socialite and devout Muslim is broken down into three significant chapters of their relationship. Winner of the People’s Choice Award for Best Feature Film at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival 2019. The Short Films are Regeneration (Dylan Quesnel) and A Mural by the Sea – a tribute screening of the work of veteran playwright, screenwriter, actor and director Tony Hall who passed away in April.

The Media Launch Live stream was hosted by Festival Director Diana Webley and included a special congratulatory message from CaribbeanTales Board Member Denise Herrera-Jackson and CaribbeanTales Incubator Alumni Nick Davis; a retrospect of CTFF’s history by founder Frances-Anne Solomon and a screening of her award-winning film Hero: Inspired by the Extraordinary Life and Times of Mr. Ulric Cross followed by a talkback with lead actor Nickolai Salcedo and Frances-Anne.
