The Stage is Set for Stardom with the Sweet Sounds of the Honey Jam

120 Auditioned, only 18 Made the Cut for the Renowned All-Female Showcase of

Canadian Music Talent

August 9, 2021 (Toronto, ON) – The 26th annual Honey Jam Showcase takes place on Thursday August 12th, 2021 at the iconic El Mocambo via FREE LIVEstream starting at 8 PM EST on nugs.net. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this is a limited capacity in-person event for media covering the event and invited guests.

Arrival time for approved guests is 7:00pm. 

Honey Jam was created to champion the growth, education and promotion of women in all aspects of the music business. The 2021 showcase continues to do this with 18 multi-genre female artists who were chosen from 120 audition submissions from all over Canada. “This year we have artists from Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Alberta and, for the first time, the Yukon,” exclaimed Honey Jam Founder and Producer Ebonnie Rowe. “Along with the showcase, we have workshops, mentorship, artist talks, conference attendance opportunities and more as part of the programming throughout the Honey Jam Season. One of the highlights for this year is a group trip planned to Nashville – the music mecca of songwriting!” 

Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe, host of CBC’s The Block will emcee the Honey Jam Showcase In a special tribute to legendary female artists, five Honey Jam alumni - Emily Schultz, Nefe, Jaje, Sasako and Kelsey will honour Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and India Arie - all have albums celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. CBC Music will also launch a Honey Jams playlist featuring original music from this year’s artists and music from Honey Jam alumni.

● Started performing live shows at only four years old

Nivédita- Ontario 

● Proficient songwriter, double bassist, and singer 

● TikTok famous for her duet videos of 2k+ views 

● Played with the Rosebud and Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra

● Recently released her album Hurting Heart on all streaming platforms 

Ashley Pater- Vancouver 

● Performed over 105 shows in 2019 with her largest audience being 100,000 people 

● The first artist to have three songs in the top twenty simultaneously on New Zealand charts 

● Featured in Starbeat magazine, Business in Vancouver, Cloverdale Reporter, The Surrey Now Newspaper, Hope Standard Newspaper 

In 1995, Ebonnie Rowe established the non-profit Honey Jam organization and artist development program to offset the lack of representation and opportunities for exposure and promotion of female artists in the industry. This year marks 26 years of passion, purpose, and persistence that have been the hallmark of her success. 

A recent recipient of the Canadian Independent Music Association’s Trailblazer Award, Ebonnie has an eye for spotting talent as evidenced by the list of famous Honey Jam

alumni, these include: Grammy winners Nelly Furtado and Melanie Fiona, Juno award winners Jully Black and Kellylee Evans, Polaris Prize winner Haviah Mighty, feature film director Stella Meghie and singer-songwriter and Gossip Girl Star Jordan Alexander.
