We’re Back in the Cinema with the 17th Annual CaribbeanTales International Film Festival Media Launch

Celebrate the Caribbean and African Diaspora with a sneak peak at this year’s line-up, our festival rebrand and a fireside chat with The Honourable Jean Augustine 

August 3, 2022 (Toronto, ON) – The 17th annual CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF) is set to reveal some of the outstanding festival programming on Wednesday August 10th at the iconic Carlton Cinema, 20 Carlton Street from 6:30pm - 8:30pm EST. “We are incredibly excited to be heading back to the cinema as well as continuing with our online option through CaribbeanTales-TV VOD for audiences to watch our great films from the comfort of their homes,” exclaimed Festival Director Diana Webley. “We are also very proud that the festival continues to be a platform for the work and support of Canadian Caribbean and African filmmakers.” 

Special guest, The Honourable Jean Augustine will offer a sneak peek of the documentary feature Steadfast: The Messenger and the Message, followed by an intimate chat with Citynews reporter Tammie Sutherland about the making of the documentary and her long political legacy in Canada as the first Black female MP and Minister. 

Additional special guests speakers are, CaribbeanTales Media Group (CTMG) CEO and CTFF founder Frances-Anne Solomon, CTMG Board Member Denise Herrera Jackson, CBC Executive Director of Equity and Inclusion and CTFF Incubator Mentor, Nick Davis, and Festival Director, Diana Webley. 

The CaribbeanTales Film Festival takes place September 8th- 24th with a programme of films from the African and Caribbean diaspora, talkbacks with actors and directors as well as the popular Big Pitch in partnership with TIFF. 

The media launch is a free community event with registration required.

Light refreshments will be served and a cash bar.
