For Immediate Release May 3, 2024 (Toronto, ON) – The highly anticipated TD International Jerk Food and Music Festival (TD JerkFest) is preparing for this year’s exciting weekend celebrating Jerk delicacies, music, art and community with an extra Caribbean flare at Centennial Park in Etobicoke – 256 Centennial Park Road from Friday August 9th to Sunday August 11th. This year’s festival kicks off with Friday Night’s Headliner: new-generation Jamaican dancehall artist, Masicka.
Hailed as the next rising star in dancehall, Masicka brings his one-of-a-kind style from Jamaica to Toronto. A seasoned artist known for pushing the boundaries of dancehall, his music uniquely sets him apart by incorporating elements of hardcore hip-hop and modern quiet-storm R&B. As a multi-talented artist, Masicka has collaborated with notable names in the dancehall industry such as Popcaan, Dexta Daps, Shenseea and Stefflon Don, releasing hits like Hit & Run, March On, Stars R Us, and Moments.
"We're thrilled to announce that this year will be filled with exciting changes to enhance the festival experience for our attendees. The biggest change is that we are going cashless at the entry gates and alcohol bars for a faster and seamless experience,” shared Anthony Plummer, Founder and Executive Director of Caribbean Promotions Arts and Culture Inc. “Additional changes will be revealed in the coming months, but attendees can still look forward to an entertaining weekend of delicious cuisine, interactive chef demos, family fun, and performances from international and local artists.”
TD JerkFest has always been committed to promoting and uplifting local talent and is once again partnering with Flow 98.7 to put finalists of the Show Your Flow contest on the TD JerkFest stage. Cash prizes are also up for grabs, artists have until May 19th to submit their best video to Jerkfestival.ca in the following categories: hip hop, R&B, gospel, dance, reggae, and dancehall.
