When The News Cycle Kicks You Into High Gear
I just signed on a new client - Learning Strategist Joanne Dominico, who runs ‘Study With Joanne’ - a service that assists students of all ages study efficiently and effectively. We decided to do a pitch linked to March Break and keeping kids learning while still having fun. I sent it out, but wasn’t getting any bites at first. Then the government announced that March Break was being extended by two weeks because of the Coronavirus or COVID-19. I consulted with Joanne and we quickly turned the pitch into ‘Keeping Learning Front and Centre During this Extended March Break.’ It included useful tips for parents of both elementary and high school students. Ten minutes after I sent it out, I had a request for Joanne to do a radio interview that morning on AM800 CKLW and a live hit on CTV Toronto News at Noon. Joanne was prepared to give her expert advice in 5 minute chunks to listeners and viewers who were looking for knowledgeable guidance on keeping their kids on track during this unsettling moment in time. She also posted relevant info on her social media platforms and the response was overwhelming - people are hungry for this info. We will continue to send out pitches and post advice during this global pandemic to help parents keep their children focused and ready when it’s time to head back to class. Check out Joanne’s website and Instagram for learning strategies or to hire her!
