TD JerkFest Toronto Announces Top Soca Entertainer to Headline Saturday and Sunday Night’s Show
Farmer Nappy is Set to Bring the Sweet Soca Sounds as the Second Headliner for the Weekend Shows

May 21, 2024 (Toronto, ON) – The 2024 TD JerkFest Toronto announces internationally acclaimed Trinidadian soca star Farmer Nappy as the second headliner for Saturday and Sunday night’s show. This year’s festival takes place from Friday, August 9th to Sunday, August 11th at Centennial Park in Etobicoke – 256 Centennial Park Road. Anticipation is already building for recently announced Friday night headliner, new-generation dancehall sensation Masicka as well as Reggae Queen Marcia Griffiths who will be performing along with Farmer Nappy on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday, August 11th.
Darryl Henry, lovingly known as “Farmer Nappy” has been captivating audiences for over 30 years with his infectious soca rhythms, making him one of the top soca entertainers of all time. Farmer Nappy’s career has seen him share stages with rap superstar Rick Ross in St. Maarten, and hip-hop icons Ja Rule and Ashanti in The Bahamas. His rich legacy has earned him the Calypso of the Year award for his blockbuster soca hit Big People Party, from the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC). He was the second runner up in the International Groovy Soca Monarch and Road March competitions during the 2014 Trinidad Carnival season. Known for his signature groovy flows, Farmer Nappy scored his breakout hit with his single Chippin (With Meh Own Woman), that became a mega single within the global soca community.
“We are thrilled to have Farmer Nappy bring the soca vibes to TD JerkFest performing new music like Smooth Ride and fan favourites, Hookin’ Meh and Backyard Jam,” shared Anthony Plummer, Founder and Executive Director of Caribbean Promotions Arts and Culture Inc. “We will be announcing the last headliner in the next couple of weeks, and attendees can look forward to an entertaining weekend of delicious cuisine, interactive chef demos, family fun, and performances from international and local artists.”
Returning to the food demonstration tent are Chef Leon Rowe and Chef Nicole King who will showcase their cooking skills and teach attendees how to make mouthwatering Caribbean recipes. Demonstrations will take place at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
Chef Leon Rowe is the founder of Heaven’s Kitchen, a catering company that draws inspiration from the freshest flavors around the globe to provide delightful culinary experiences. Chef Nicole King is the owner and founder of MsKingsKitchen, a ghost kitchen and virtual cooking show that offers healthy meal preparation and catering services.
**Note: Show Your Flow - local artist competition in partnership with Flow 98.7 - has extended the deadline for submission to June 1st. Finalists will perform on the TD JerkFest stage and receive cash prizes in the categories of hip hop, R&B, soca, Afrobeat, gospel, dance, reggae and dancehall.
