TD JerkFest Toronto Announces Legendary Reggae Queen to Headline Saturday and Sunday Night’s Show

Marcia Griffiths Set to Celebrates 60 Years in the Music Biz on the TD JerkFest Stage For Immediate Release 

May 13, 2024 (Toronto, ON) – The anticipation of the vibrant weekend celebrating Caribbean food, music, art and community continues to rise as TD JerkFest Toronto announces Reggae Queen, Marcia Griffiths as the first headliner for Saturday and Sunday night’s show. This year’s festival takes place from Friday, August 9th to Sunday, August 11th at Centennial Park in Etobicoke – 256 Centennial Park Road. This year’s festival kicks off with Friday Night’s Headliner: new-generation Jamaican dancehall artist, Masicka. 

Known as the Queen of Reggae, Marcia Griffiths is a true icon in the reggae scene. With a career spanning six decades, and still going strong, her soulful voice and timeless hits have captivated audiences worldwide. Marcia has toured the world as a member of the I-threes with Bob Marley and the Wailers, and has hit the Billboard chart as a soloist with Electric Boogie and created a world class dance, The Electric Slide. 

“This year’s festival is going to be a full weekend of iconic Caribbean performers. We are thrilled to have the legendary Marcia Griffiths continue the Caribbean celebration and grace the TD JerkFest stage on Saturday and Sunday night with her hits Electric Boogie and Feel Like Jumping,” shared Anthony Plummer, Founder and Executive Director of Caribbean Promotions Arts and Culture Inc. “We will be announcing the rest of the line-up over the next couple of weeks, but attendees can look forward to an entertaining weekend of delicious cuisine, interactive chef demos, family fun, and performances from international and local artists.” 

TD JerkFest has always been committed to promoting and uplifting local talent and is once again partnering with Flow 98.7 to put finalists of the Show Your Flow contest on the TD JerkFest stage. Cash prizes are also up for grabs, artists have until May 19th to submit their best video to Jerkfestival.ca in the following categories: hip hop, R&B, gospel, dance, reggae, and dancehall.
