Hosting Global Strides Fundraiser

A good friend and business associate once told me that she picks charities that she wants to support for the year and gives time, work, her name, money whatever it may be to only those charities. It's easy to get pulled in a million different directions when it comes to giving. You don't want to say no to everything, but you can't say yes to everything. Do your research. Find charities that align with your values. Make sure you know where donations are going - is the bulk going to "administrative" costs? Find out if it is really going to help the cause and make a difference. As a business person, you want to make sure your brand is aligned with positive, upstanding organizations. This is the second time that I am hosting the Global Strides annual Hearts Beyond Borders fundraiser on June 14th. Global Strides is run strictly by volunteers and supports an orphanage in Kenya that houses 16 children in a family-style environment.
