Counting My Blessings! FKB Media Celebrates One Year in Da Biz!
It’s such a common saying - time flies. But it really does. Especially when you enjoy what you are doing. I can’t believe a year ago I took a leap of faith in myself and left my full-time gig with great benefits to run my own media consulting business. Truth be told, I was dabbling in it for about year beforehand with a little side hustle here and there. I thought I could do it, but I wanted to test the waters out before jumping in without a life jacket. Eventually I was pushed into the entrepreneurship pool , my side hustle became too much for me to manage and continue my job as a news producer. It was time to go, and I haven’t looked back. It’s been go, go, go and I love it! But I could not have taken that leap without my tribe. I am surrounded by lifelong supporters - my amazing family, my awesome friends, my superstar clients (including the new ones) and many of my former colleagues that I’ve worked with in my 25 year television career. I decided that for my birthday I would take the time to count my blessings, both personally and professionally. With the help of family and friends, I threw a cocktail party to thank those who have helped me in my life get to where I am today. I had one tiny issue. Because of “fire regulations,” the room limit was 60 people maximum. That meant I had to be very selective about who I wanted in the room. At first I struggled, but then it became a good exercise at reflecting on my life and those who have been there for me through thick and thin. When I looked around the room and made my thank you speech, I literally saw my life flash before my eyes: my mother, brother and children, my aunts and cousins, my two friends from elementary school (we met in grade 2 and 3), my high school and university friends, my former colleagues turned friends from Citytv, Toronto 1, Canada AM, Your Morning and CTV News Channel, my FKB Media clients and all of my friends-for-life who have seen me at my worst and still love me through good times and bad. I am Blessed, I can’t say it enough. When your tribe is strong, you can do anything you set your mind to doing. Take a look at my tribe here. I love them for their unwavering support and for sharing this milestone moment in my life with me. I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for FKB Media Solutions!
